Join an excursion to Aigai (Aegae), the first capital of the ancient Kingdom of Macedon and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located near modern-day Vergina. Aigai was the political and ceremonial heart of the Macedonian kings from the 8th to the 4th century BC. It was here that King Philip II was assassinated in 336 BC and Alexander the Great was proclaimed king, ushering in a new era of history.
